Before you know it, school will be back in session, but the first day will see some major changes.
Erie School District administrators are reminding parents of the changes after the consolidation plan reconfigured the entire district. Changes include earlier start times for elementary schools, transportation changes and a relaxed dress code.
The district is also sending home letters to parents with important information and has important links on its website.
Superintendent Brian Polito says, “We do have open houses at all the schools on the 23rd and 24th this year. We encourage parents to come to those and take a look at the new buildings, meet the staff and the administration and learn about the programming that’s going on in those schools.”
The Millcreek School District is also seeing big changes this year to its transportation and start times. The administration says this year they went from what’s called, a ‘four tiered busing system’ to a ‘two tiered system’.
Classes at McDowell High School and all three Millcreek middle schools will begin at 7:50am and go until 2:40pm.
Millcreek elementary schools will begin at 9:15am and go until 3:30pm.
