The Riverside Inn was a special place for many in the Cambridge Springs community.

Over the years the historic landmark held receptions, reunions, proms, and their famous dinner theatre.

But Tuesday morning the 132 year old Riverside Inn was lost to fire. The blaze appears to have started in the kitchen and spread quickly.

Firefighter used approximately two million gallons of water to fight the blaze, but due to the age of the structure and the wind conditions, the fire could not be contained.

Hundreds of people came to the site to watch the fire and the aftermath. Throughout the day nearly 300 people stopped by to take pictures, shed tears and share memories.

Many people were just in shock at what they saw.

The state police fire marshall was on scene and will continue to investigate a cause throughout the week.
