Canadian electric company helps Irma victims

Local News

The destruction left by Hurricane Irma prompts a Canadian company to send their employees south.  More than 6 million are without electricity in Florida.  Hydro One Incorporated out of Ontario saw an opportunity to help.  The company sent 175 employees, 52 bucket trucks, and 30 other vehicles and pieces of equipment to the hardest hit areas.  All of those vehicles were right here in Erie overnight.

Crews stopped at Holiday Inn Express on Peach Street to rest.  The company says, “we are proud of Hydro One’s long-standing history of responding to help other communities in need.  Access to electricity can be a lifeline in a disaster and our crews are determined to help restore power to the families and businesses in Florida as quickly and safely as possible.”
