The Humane Society of Northwestern Pennsylvania has announced the cause of death for an abandoned, deceased cat found in September.

The Humane Society of NWPA’s Humane Officers asked the public for help in September to find any information regarding the death of an abandoned multi-colored, long-haired cat inside a blue carrier.  The cat was found at the State Game Lands 162 off of Casler Road in Amity Township, PA on September 14th.

Their investigation, which included a forensic necropsy of the cat’s body, has concluded that he died from two gunshot wounds and was shot and killed while inside of the carrier.

Officers say the cat was microchipped and traced to an owner in the City of Erie.  They have spoken with the owner who says the cat was missing for around four days and they don’t believe the owner was involved in the cat’s death.

They still have yet to find the suspect(s).  Officers ask if you have any information regarding the incident to call the Chief Humane Officer Lisa Stiles at 814-835-8360.
