ERIE, Pa. — A Cathedral Prep student who suffered a spinal cord injury during a wrestling tournament is heading back to school.
Students and teachers said they’ve waited for a long time to have their brother, Ian Malesiewski, back at school.
To help grant Ian’s wish to graduate with his class in 2018, the school created a special classroom just for him.
It’s called Ian’s Room.
All of his teachers and classmates will come to him and a big screen TV with the day’s lessons will sync with his laptop.
“There is been a tremendous support for Ian,” Chris Hagerty, director of strategic initiatives, said. “But I think it has worked even stronger the other way. He has taught us more in the last five months than we could ever have imagined supporting him.”
Malesiewski will be back in school starting Monday.
