ERIE, Pa. — Dozens of schools in the Erie Catholic School System are holding open house tours and special events throughout the week.

According to the National Catholic Educational Association, more than 130,000 students attend Catholic schools in Pennsylvania.

Our Lady of Peace School, located at 2401 W 38th St. in Millcreek Township, was one of the schools that held an open house on Sunday.

Principal Mary Beth Ek said that the school’s students benefit from a strong curriculum and value system.

“These children get to live their faith and pray and learn about their faith everyday,” said Ek.

Jennifer Skolnik, who registered her daughter in kindergarten, agreed.

“We hear wonderful things about Our Lady of Peace: their great curriculum. And we also want to keep with the Catholic education that’ll give her a good basis for a lifetime.”

National Catholic Schools week runs from Jan. 29 and Feb. 4. Tours will be held at Erie area Catholic schools throughout the week.
