Catholics celebrate Holy Thursday, Good Friday

Local News

ERIE, Pa. — Members of the Catholic faith gathered Thursday night to celebrate the initiation of the priesthood and the Eucharist in observance of Holy Thursday.

Twelve volunteers also had their feet washed as a way to carry on what Jesus did for his 12 disciples at the last supper.

“For 40 days we walk with Christ,” Erie Bishop Lawrence Persico said. “We experienced his life through the gospels, through our own prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.”

Good Friday services will be taking place throughout the diocese today.
