Today, CBS is in crisis management mode; its regular board meeting interrupted with debates over the future leadership of the company.
It comes after the head of CBS, Les Moonves, finds himself at the center of a sexual abuse scandal. Last Friday, Ronan Farrow broke the news in the New Yorker detailing allegations from six women of inappropriate behavior, ranging from unwanted kissing to sexual assault.
One of the women, Producer Dinah Kirgo, says Moonves made an unwanted advance towards her, asking her to dinner years ago when she was working on launching a show. She turned him down and the show didn’t get launched.
Ronan Farrow says, “The goal was to expose stories that had been buried for a long time… The women want accountability.”
The CBS board says they will fully investigate these claims and will hire an outside law firm to do so.
