Cedar Point announced on Monday via a Twitter video that Mean Streak is getting the “axe.”

According to Cedar Point, the massive wooden coaster will give its last rides on Sept. 16 before a “last rites” ceremony at 7:30 p.m.

Cedar Point said the coaster will be cleared to make way for future development to FrontierTown.

When Mean Streak opened in 1991, it was the tallest wooden roller coaster in the world and has been ranked among the best coasters in the world since its debut.
