Cell phone alerts buzz nationwide for ‘Presidential Alert’

Local News

Nearly every cellphone in America buzzed today when a new alert system took place; it’s called the ‘Presidential Alert’.

And, while there was no emergency, the new system is designed to warn Americans of an emergency.  The text message read, “This is a test of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System.  No action is needed.”

The system is run by FEMA and works similar to an Amber Alert but it can’t be turned off.  The alert also may come over through the radio, television, and smartwatches.
