It’s downtown Erie’s next big festival and changes are coming to Celebrate Erie next month.
The four-day festival is striving to be more family-oriented by ending about an hour earlier. That means no fireworks show.
The city of Erie’s events coordinator, Aaron Loncki, says they wanted to go all out for the fireworks display celebrating Independence Day. “At Lights Over Lake Erie, we decided to have the big fireworks show of the year there to celebrate that holiday. This year, what we want to do for Celebrate Erie is move up the programming for more daylight hours; keep it family-friendly.”
The festival will feature all the other favorites, including new attractions like the multicultural marketplace.
For those wanting to see fireworks, the Erie Seawolves will put on a display on Saturday, August 18th.
