Hundreds of people set out Sunday morning to ring Easter in with a congregation, song and prayer remembering the reason the holiday is celebrated at all.
Church services all across Erie brought people together, and members of Erie First Assembly of God say it was great to celebrate the meaning of Easter with other believers.
Some members say people have steered away from the meaning behind the holiday, getting too caught up in the candy.
“I’m not against Easter. I think it’s great that kids can have fun and celebrate that way. But they also should know the meaning and the purpose behind it.”
“It is a lot about, you know, the presents and the hoopla, but we try and tell them what it’s all about – real meaning.”
Along with attending church services, people celebrated Easter with family traditions, like hunting for Easter baskets and spending time with family.
