The City of Erie will be changing the way it tests future police officers.

Today, Erie City Council unanimously approved a resolution allowing Mercyhurst University to conduct police candidate testing. Once the agreement is finalized, applicants can take one exam to qualify for 26 departments including Erie. The city has handled it’s own testing. It’s estimated the move will save about five thousand dollars per year and diversify the pool of applicants.
