City Council Approves Plans For Erie Insurance Pedestrian Bridges

Plans to build pedestrian bridges in Downtown Erie gets City Council’s okay.

Council unanimously approved a resolution calling for the city to enter what’s called an easement agreement with Erie Insurance. The company plans to build two overhead walkways… One over east sixth and the other over east seventh street. Those bridges will connect several Erie Insurance buildings.

“Anytime you have a fortune 500 company in your community, Erie county’s largest employer, and we want to co-operate with them so that we drive business into the city and drive their employment up, ” said councilman Bob Merski.

In other business, City Council approved the plans for this year’s Community Development Block Grant funding. The city getting almost 3.1 million dollars from the Department of Housing and Urban development.
