Erie is showing support for Governor Tom Wolf’s ‘Restore Pennsylvania’ initiative.
With this plan, $4.5 billion will be dispersed over the next four years on projects that will work with development opportunities throughout the Commonwealth. According to the governor’s office, this will be funded through a severance tax.
Julie Slomski, Northwest Regional Director for Tom Wolf, explains how important this is for the state:
With being the second largest producer in the nation, we are the only ones withought the severance tax. So, we are hoping this opportunity through one that makes sense and have these projects in the Commonwealth and bring them back to Erie where we believe there are so many opportunities. “
Erie County was the first county in the state to support this and today, the city also sponsored the governor’s plan.
