Code enforcement to be discussed at tonight’s City Council meeting

Local News

Several city residents plan to attend tonight’s city council meeting voicing concerns on the recent code enforcement effort.

According to a Facebook page called, ‘Fight Back Council – Code Enforcement,’ dozens of people are coming to tonight’s meeting who feel the recent sweep by code enforcement, handing out several property code violations, does not align with Erie’s ‘Refocused’ plan.

Organizers claim the city is picking on the wrong neighbors.  Activist, Alayna Getchell says, “we are just looking for transparency.  Why are we not doing what the experts… you know, going after the lower east side [where the] distresses are and it’s distressed for a reason”.

Tonight’s city council meeting begins at 7:30pm inside council chambers of City Hall.
