Collisions involving deer keep local body shops hopping

Local News

Every fall, there’s a spike in the number of deer hit by cars, but this year, that spike is coming a little later, which is causing a headache for body shops in the area.

At Bonnell’s Collision in Millcreek, many cars are being serviced for accidents involving deer.  The damage can vary greatly depending on the speed and point of impact.  Warm weather is to blame for the push-back in the ‘rut season,’ when deer become more active. But now that it’s here, they’re also dealing with winter-related accidents, which is keeping their staff very busy.

Employees at Bonnell’s say it’s safer to hit a deer than to try to avoid it.   They also added that typically, the deductible from your insurance may be lower than if you swerve and hit a tree.
