Community Shelter Services unveils renovated home via ‘Homeward Bound’ project

Local News

Community Shelter Services is unveiling a newly renovated home for a low-income family.

The single-family house in the 1900 block of Prospect Avenue is part of the organization’s Homeward Bound program.  The Erie Redevelopment Authority donated the house last year when it was partially refurbished. Volunteers and staff have since restored the kitchen, bathrooms, walls, and floors.

Mark Alexa, Executive Director of Community Shelter Services, says, “We’re excited. We’re hoping to expand Homeward Bound. That way we’re really the last best landlord for somebody.”

This location marks the program’s fourth house.  The family will move in next month.
