Contracted PennDOT worker killed in Interstate hit ‘n run

A 26-year old worker preparing to install cable guide rails on Interstate 90 was struck and killed by a hit and run driver around 7:30 this morning.

Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook has identified 26-year old Jacqueline Ohly of Stevens Point Wisconsin as the victim. She works for a company subcontracted by PennDOT to string cable guide rails.

Cook says she was wearing complete safety gear when she was struck by a 2010 tan Buick. The driver left the scene but was later located near Corry.

One lane of traffic near the Depot Road exit of Interstate 90 was closed as police gathered evidence.

The driver’s name has not been released.
