It could be a day or so before the identities of the three men killed in a Friday afternoon accident are released.

Coroner Lyell Cook says he’s still confirming some details before releasing the names. Erie police this afternoon said they too are continuing to work on the investigation into the accident.

It happened around 2 pm Friday at the intersection of West 12th and Cherry streets. Officials say an s-u-v sped through a red light at the intersection and slammed into a semi truck.

The driver reportedly was traveling at a speed of more than 90 miles per hour — so fast, debris from the collision traveled more than 400 feet.

The s-u-v hit another vehicle before running into the semi. That driver, along with the truck driver were not injured.
