Council looks to cut EMTA funds

Local News

Erie County Council is now looking to cut EMTA funding at the end of June, which could result in the suspension of the EMTA system until a new contract is in place.

That vote is expected to happen at the County Council meting tonight. County and City Councils are still negotiating terms of a new EMTA contract.

The county wants to regionalize the Transit Authority and says they have budgeted to fund the EMTA entirely.

The city says the Transit Authority is already regionalized and wants to renew the current agreement.

County Council EMTA Liason Kyle Foust says the county isn’t sticking to the status quo. Foust expects council to vote unanimously tonight in favor of stopping EMTA funding.
