Erie County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper is co-chairing the Complete Count Committee that is made up of local non-profits, community organizations, and others.
Dahlkemper tells us it is important to have an accurate count because that will determine how much federal funding the county will get.
Historically in Erie County, certain groups have been unaccounted for and this committee is trying to make sure that doesn’t happen during next year’s census.
Dahlkemper says, “Our young people, particularly college age, they’re typically unaccounted. Certain pockets in the rural areas are unaccounted; so we really tried to reach out a broad swath of organizations and leadership beyond this committee.”
This committee will come together again in about two weeks.
