Holiday decorations are bringing hope to victims of crime.
The Crime Victim Center in Erie is covered from wall to wall with holiday decorations. Getting the office ready for the holiday season is a full staff effort. The Executive Director says the display helps their clients feel more comfortable, sending a message that the center is always there for support.
Paul Lukach, Executive Director, tells us, “Working with clients who’ve been affected by crime, working with young people who’ve been sexually assaulted or abused in other ways is really tough work. We try make our center as happy as possible environment for people coming in, because they’re brave enough to come in and tell their story and seek help.”
Decorating for the holidays is a 40-year tradition at the Crime Victim Center. The Executive Director tells us they see a spike in clients every January.
