DA refiles charges against man who admittedly shot a woman to death while hunting

Local News

The Chautauqua County District Attorney has refiled charges against a man who shot his neighbor while illegally hunting at night.

Thomas Jadlowski of Sherman, New York reportedly admitted to police that he fired a single gunshot at what he thought was a deer in late November.  That bullet hit and killed 43-year-old Rosemary Billquist, who was walking her dogs.

Jadlowski is charged with second-degree manslaughter and with violating New York hunting laws by firing after sunset.  A procedural error forced the court to drop the original manslaughter charge which has now been refiled by District Attorney Patrick Swanson.

Pre-trial motions will be heard in May.
