In the race for Erie County Executive, Kathy Dahlkemper coming out on top in a razor-thin race. Dahlkemper giving her victory speech after a less than one percent victory, however, she did not claim victory until after, she says, the absentee ballots showed she was on top.
Dahlkemper says she looks forward to another four years in office, building on the work she’s started. “We’ve got a lot of initiatives we’re moving forward: the ‘Up for the Jobs’ program, of course, there’s the community college that we’re waiting for the state on, finishing up the radio project, continuing more renovations at the library and broadband is another issue that we have made a priority and we’re just getting started on that. How do we get broadband, fast internet, to everybody in Erie County? Those are just a few of the fairly large things that we have to work on.”
As Dahlkemper declares victory, Republican Candidate Art Oligeri is saying the race isn’t over yet, Dahlkemper winning by only a handful of votes. Oligeri tells us he’s proud of his campaign, finishing with such a close race against an incumbent.
