A mass shooting leaves more than 50 dead and 200 injured in Las Vegas after a man opened fire on an outdoor country music festival.
The city is on high alert as police are blocking all roads leading to the famed Las Vegas strip.
Gunfire erupted late Sunday night. The scene of the mass shooting unfolded near the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino.
ABC news is reporting that authorities have identified the suspected gunman as Stephen Paddock, a local resident. Sheriff Joseph Lombardo of Clark County says Paddock was found on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay. Officers responded to that location and engaged Paddock at that location. The Sheriff is reporting that Paddock is dead.
The gunfire erupted as a large country music concert was taking place in the area, prompting droves of people to flee the area and take shelter anywhere they could. The headliner of the concert, country music singer Jason Aldean, was on stage performing when gunfire started.
Large numbers of police are rushing into the area, locking down all along the famed Las Vegas strip.
The incident prompted flights at the McCarran International Airport to be temporarily halted.
