Firefighters and excavators work to clean up the mess left by a devastating fire.
Firefighters were on the scene for more than 24 hours, first battling the flames, then putting out the hot spots.
A pile of rubble is all that remains after a warehouse caught fire around 3 p.m. yesterday.
Fire crews are still investigating what caused the fire that engulfed and destroyed the warehouse full of mattresses.
Fire investigators say those mattresses are what caused the flamed to spread so quickly, along with the wind.
Firefighters were at the scene and battling flames until around 10 last night.
They’ve been working ever since to put out hot spots.
The building has already been torn down due to concerns that it may collapse.
Erie Fire Department Chief Tony Pol says he has to give credit, not only to all of the fire departments and hundreds of firefighters, but also to the citizens that came out to help.
There were several other fires yesterday evening around the same time this fire broke out, but firefighters say those were unrelated.
