Ron DiNicola is meeting with seniors across the region in an attempt to “set the record straight” about his opponent’s latest ad.
The Democratic candidate for Congress in the 16th district spoke with seniors at Niagara Village. His opponent, Congressman Mike Kelly, is running an ad in which Kelly claims he voted to protect Social Security and Medicare; DiNicola saying it’s clear that the ad can’t be squared with Kelly’s voting record.
DiNicola added that Kelly has voted to cut Social Security benefits by 19% and to privatize Medicare. He says, “[Kelly] claims to be there to protect Social Security and Medicare, but it’s quite clear that he is not actually doing that, in fact, he’s undermining those systems and that’s to the detriment of our citizens.”
Late this afternoon, Representative Kelly responded, saying that some of the claims from the press conference have already been debunked by an independent fact checker and went on to say, “My record is clear. I have been a champion for seniors and personally fought to protect them from Medicare cuts.”
