District Judge Paul Urbaniak announces retirement

Erie County’s longest-serving district judge says he will retire by the end of the new year.

District Judge Paul Urbaniak has been serving since he was appointed by Governor Tom Ridge in 1995 and has won four six-year terms since. 

Urbaniak was a school teacher and a constable before being appointed to the bench. 

Friends tell us the 59-year-old does not know what he will be doing next but will begin to explore those possibilities.
