Local News

A Mississippi man is being held on three million dollars bond after DNA allegedly links him to a second rape in the City of Erie.

57 year old Jerome Keyes has been arraigned on a new and lengthy list of crimes tonight. Erie Police filing charges against him including rape, aggravated assault and unlawful restraint in connection with the July 2015 rape of a woman in Erie. According to Police, Keyes’ DNA matches DNA found on the victim in the 2015 case. Detectives checked the DNA samples after Keyes was charged with abducting, beating and raping another woman in October. In that case, surveillance video released to the public showed a woman fleeing a truck near West 12th and Chestnut streets. About a week later, Keyes was arrested in Butler and his truck impounded.

Police say his DNA was checked in regards to several unsolved cases but the 2015 case is the only match to date.
