A controversial member of the Millcreek School Board is stepping down. Action News has confirmed that Board Member Donna Reese has submitted her resignation.
Reese cites health reasons and the need to concentrate on getting better. She won re-election despite being criticized for being out of the state during some of the board meetings. In a posted comment, Reese called it, “a sad day” and thanked voters for their support.
Her statement, in full, reads:
“Today is a sad day for me. After extreme and careful thought I have sent my resignation as a school board director. Most of you know that I’ve been battling chronic health issues. I’ve talked to both my family and physicians and arrived at this very difficult decision that it is time to direct my focus on my health. It has been my overwhelming honor to serve with Bill Hall, his amazing staff and school board members. I cannot thank the parents and taxpayers enough who put their trust in me with their vote!! The district has seen awesome improvements in education and finances. I am proud to have been given the opportunity to serve! THANK YOU!!”
