ERIE, Pa. — A driver involved in a weekend crash has been upgraded to serious condition at UPMC Hamot.
The accident happened just before 12:30 p.m Sunday on Route 19, immediately north of Elk Road, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
State police said 55-year-old Lisa Huffman was driving northbound and lost control of her car. The car slid into oncoming traffic and slammed head-on into a pickup truck headed southbound.
Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to free Huffman, who was trapped in the car, before being transported to UPMC Hamot.
The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.
Peach Street, in the vicinity of the accident, was closed for about an hour while police investigated and firefighters cleaned up debris.
