The Better Business Bureau of Western PA has announced the entrepreneurs of the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory of Erie, Pa., as recipients of the inaugural Louis J. Porreco Driving Trust Award – A Torch Award for Entrepreneurship.

The announcement was made Wednesday evening in Erie during the SCORE of Northwestern PA’s 50th Anniversary Gala. Funeral Director Jack Martin, wife Karen, and sons Andrew and Alex were present to accept the award.

The Louis J. Porreco Driving Trust award recognizes new businesses and young entrepreneurs in Northwestern PA whose leaders demonstrate a higher level of character, generating a culture that is authentic about its mission and connecting with the community. 

“The Dusckas-Martin family is honored to accept this award and will strive to uphold the business ethics and principles that the award stands for,” says Jack Martin, funeral director of the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory. “Erie’s future depends on honest, hardworking people with a commitment to community and those are the types of values I hope to instill in my family and our business in the years to come.” 

Award entries were based on written and/or video submissions on the topics of Character, Company Culture and Community. The winner received a $2,000 monetary gift. For more information about the award, visit bbb.org.
