Easter egg hunts are planned this weekend at the Maritime Museum and the zoo

Local News

An Easter egg hunt is on for nearly 150 children at the Erie Maritime Museum.

The museum hosting their first ever ‘Easter Eggstravaganza’ sponsored by Little Caesar’s of Erie through the ‘Little Mates’ program.

Children had a chance to tour the US Brig Niagara while the museum is in the midst of getting it ready for the sailing season.  In addition to a scavenger hunt, more than 300 Easter eggs were hidden throughout the museum.

That includes 15 special golden eggs.  Marcus Masternak, Membership Manager of the museum, tells us, “If a kid finds a golden egg, they take it to the museum store and they can pick from a range of prizes… there’s shipbuilding origami, there’s Lego shipbuilding, there’s Lego ship in a bottle…”

The Easter Bunny also made a special visit to take pictures with the kids.  Meantime, you can still hunt for eggs this weekend.

Also, the Erie Zoo invites you to look for eggs hidden around the zoo grounds on Saturday.  There are prizes from Burger King and Romolo chocolate eggs.  The Easter Bunny will be there for photos and staff members are hosting a meet and greet with some zoo animals.  The event runs from 10am to 2pm.
