ERIE, Pa. — Thanks to a dollar for dollar match from the Erie County Gaming Revenue Authority, public school districts foundations in Erie County received more than $317,000 on Thursday.
As part of the School District Foundation Endowment Challenge, ECGRA also matched every dollar raided by the foundations up to $5 per student – totaling $317,151.
Ten of 13 Erie County school districts participated in the fundraising challenge with six being honored on Thursday.
Corry, General McClane, Millcreek, Northwestern, Erie and Union city honored for the money they raised that will all go back to help students.
“Sometimes it is the most basic of things,” Erie Public Schools Partnership board president Kelly Byers said. “Sometimes it’s just art supplies.”
The grants will help more than 26,000 Erie County students.
