Volunteers are spending the day renovating the school by painting all the classrooms and hallways, even replacing a wooden entrance deck that will now be a concrete pad. Dozens of volunteers took to the school yard, clearing a fence line of overgrown brush and sprucing up the playground.
For the volunteers from GE, this is a chance to give back to the community. Bob Frost, Volunteer Leader, says, “we have a GE volunteers team and I learned that last year we had over 16,000 hours that we gave back to the community through our volunteers program”.
GE has an ongoing partnership with Edison Elementary as part of the community school initiative.
