EDP awards $43,000 in grants to downtown businesses for facade improvements

Local News

This year, the Erie Downtown Partnership is awarding more than $43,000 to five downtown organizations.  They include Room 33 Speakeasy, Ye Olde Sweet Shoppe, Glass Growers Gallery, Executive Pulse and Palace Hardware.

The grant money will provide new awnings, masonry work, power washing, and fire escape painting.

John Buchna, CEO of the Erie Downtown Partnership, says, “You have large-scale investment with our big employers. Now, this brings it down to the reality that our community is made up of a lot of small and medium-sized businesses. It’s their commitment to continue to invest not just in their businesses and their buildings, but in their community.”

Since the start of the grant program in 2004, more than half a million dollars has gone to facade improvements for downtown businesses.
