The future of downtown Erie was the topic of discussion this morning at the Manufacture and Business Association’s Eggs and Issues.

The President and CEO of Erie Insurance, Tim NeCastro, was the guest speaker and talked about ‘Getting to the Core of a Better Erie’.  NeCastro talked about the Downtown Development Corporation, the newly formed organization dedicated to real estate development, mainly housing.  He says the project will, hopefully, interest more people to live downtown.

NeCastro wants to “increase the vibrancy of the downtown by creating desirable living conditions for young professionals, doctors from UPMC Hamot, professors from Gannon, some of our employees and really stimulate development”.

NeCastro says he envisions a friendly downtown Erie, where people want to walk, bike, and enjoy the public square.
