Bright Futures Farm equine charity and The Marley Project, INC present the EQUUS Film Festival Meadville Tour Stop April 20-22, 2018 in Meadville, Pa.
The EQUUS Film Festival, founded in 2013 by Lisa Diersen, showcases films, documentaries, short films, music videos, commercials, art and literature which pay homage to the horse. The 2017 Festival will be held in New York City on November 16-19.
This equestrian themed event will then go on international tour making a stop in Meadville. The Spotlight Rescue Series features shorts, doc’s and trailers for films about rescue situations (equine, canine, feline and human), and the individuals that work tirelessly to save and improve lives.
The features include stories of neglect and abuse, but also stories of rescue and hope. Each 3 to 5 minute Public Service Announcement feature will showcase an individual or an organization making a difference in the lives of others, whether equine, canine, feline or human. These short films each include a call to action with contact information for the organization and suggestions for ways that the general public can help.
SRS Shorts are created through Executive Producer JA Media Connections LLC with support from The Marley Project, Inc. and presented via the EQUUS Film Festival. The series is a unique opportunity for rescue organizations to showcase the positive efforts of their volunteers and to bring public awareness to the horrors of abuse and neglect, targeting ways of providing assistance.
The films are created through a student project supported by the South Carolina Arts Commission and the Arts in the Basic Curriculum Project and will be featured at the EQUUS Film Festival New York. The “Spotlight Rescue Series: The Hanging Barn” is a collaboration of Bright Futures Farm equine charity of Cochranton, JA Media Connections LLC of Camden SC, Reichel Films and Zeppelin Views LLC of Meadville, to highlight one story which has a local origin. It is the story of 11 horses who were found in a barn in Clarion County in a state of extreme neglect. Six of those horses were able to survive this horrific ordeal.
“The Hanging Barn” shares the incredible story of rescue, rehabilitation and recovery of two of these amazing animals. The EQUUS Film Festival Meadville Tour Stop will be held April 20-22 in downtown Meadville and its vicinity. More information will be released as the venues and special events are confirmed.
