Local artists now have a new place to create and sell their pieces. The Erie Art Gallery is now open in the Masonic Building in downtown Erie.
The idea is to create more of a community hub than a traditional store, offering artists not only a place to buy art, but also to speak with other artists and exchange ideas. Gallery owner Brad Ford says it’s an operation that is needed for the downtown area and for local artists. “If I sell one of these pieces someone is able to buy milk, someone is able to buy more paint, someone’s able to pay their electric bill…”
Ford says he thinks the gallery will fit in with local restaurants and places like the Warner Theatre to give people a full downtown experience.
