Erie Community Foundation commits to donating $30 million to the area over five years

Local News

A local non-profit is unveiling a five-year plan to transform the Erie area using $30 million.

Hundreds of volunteers are gathered at the Bayfront Convention Center to learn more about how to better serve their non-profit organizations.  But, those in attendance will also be hearing first-hand about Erie Community Foundation’s $30 million framework.

The ECF is committing the $30 million over five years through a three-step plan.  First, the foundation plans to double its ‘Helping Today’ budget from $500,000 per year to $1 million.  The foundation also intends on seeking transformational projects by collaborating with the community. And the last of those three steps is to focus on mission-related investments that are more difficult to finance.

In a written statement, the organization stresses that these are investments, not grants.

And, of course, what better audience to share this plan with than the representatives from more than 300 non-profits gathered today?

We’ll have much more on this announcement coming up in our later shows, so be sure to stay tuned to JET 24 Action News.
