Erie County begins spraying for West Nile tonight

Local News

Erie County will begin spraying for West Nile virus tonight at dusk.

The first area sprayed will be the woods north of Iroquois Avenue, west of Walbridge Road, and south of Crosley Road in Harborcreek.

The spray is designed to kill mosquito larvae but is safe for the environment, people, and mammals.

Certain mosquito species carry the West Nile virus, which can cause humans to contract West Nile encephalitis, an infection that can result in an inflammation of the brain.
