A group dedicated to insuring Erie’s past was looking toward the future.
The Erie County Historical Society holding their annual meeting this evening. The group handing out awards for local history, preservation volunteer of the year, and the president’s award. Members spoke about their accomplishments over the last year, and plans for their new construction and education projects. The executive director spoke about recent progress.
“We’ve really turned the Erie County Historical Society into a real regional asset. We have great archive. We are building great exhibits and our campus here, the Hagen History Center, will become a real gem for our tourism and for those interested in regional history,”said Executive Director George Deutsch.
The society is currently working on renovating the Wood Morrison House as part of phase one of their three year construction project.
