The Erie Federal Credit Union is offering a loan assistance program to those affected by the Wabtec strike. This is their way of helping people cope with this period of reduced pay.
The program was developed back in 2015 when Erie school teachers were impacted by the Pennsylvania impasse. The program allows a 60-day extension on any existing loans that a member might have. It also offers a low-interest rate short-term loan.
CEO of Erie Federal Credit Union, Brian Waugaman, says, “this is affecting close to 1700 families in our community; Erie Federal Credit Union is part of that same community.”
The program will continue as long as the strike lasts.
