The loss of a loved one can make for a melancholy Christmas during the holidays.
That’s why the Lutheran Churches in the Erie parish get together for their annual Blue Christmas service. The idea is to offer support and understanding for those who have suffered loss over the last year. During the service, participants place a ribbon on the tree to honor and remember their loved ones.
“This service really draws in the people and it really creates a nice support for those people who have lost loved ones during the season,” said Charlie Lintelman, building security.
Since its inception five years ago, the service has become a tradition with more parishioners showing up each year.
