Erie man sentenced to 9-18 years for third degree murder

Local News

27-year-old Julian Mickel is sentenced to 9-18 years behind bars.  Mickel pleading guilty to third-degree murder the day opening statements in his third homicide trial was set to begin.

This sentence was agreed upon by both the defense and the prosecution in the plea agreement.  The judge abided by the agreement despite third-degree murder usually carrying a longer sentence.  Mickel admitted to shooting and killing 26-year-old Jaree Warren in December 2014 outside Angie’s Last Stop Bar at West 18th and Raspberry.

The 9-18 years is on top of the sentence Mickel is serving for shooting at Warren weeks prior to his murder.
