Local News

The incoming Director of US Naval Intelligence is in Erie and preparing to speak to hundreds of students.

Erie Native, Vice Admiral Matthew Kohler, assumes his new role next month.  He’s spending this weekend visiting some of his favorite spots in Erie, like the Maritime Museum.  He’s also preparing to tout Mercyhurst University’s cyber intelligence program.

Kohler says, “How they can contribute by just advancing their own type of capabilities and skills that they bring coming out of great institutions like Mercyhurst. And what they can do, whatever field they choose to work in, they should feel that they are doing something that is bigger than themselves. So many challenges out there, but so many opportunities.”
