Erie Police and Fire Work to Locate Owner of Boat

Local News

The City of Erie Fire Department, along with City of Erie Police, are investigating how this boat ended up in Lawrence Park.

The call came out around 7:30 p.m. for a vessel stuck on the rock near Lakeside Drive. Upon investigation, officials say no one is on the boat but the boat appears to be tied to the rocks. They are currently working to locate the owner.

Chief Mike Balliett of the Erie Fire Department says, “The interior of the boat was checked.  Nobody was on board.  The vessel is taking on water.  It’s tied to the rocks down there, so, can’t really answer how it got to that point just yet.”

Balliett says there were no earlier distress calls and the boat was not leaking any gas or oil.  The Coast Guard and EPD were expected to contact the owner.
