The Erie School Board meets to discuss plans to move the district forward. After years of struggling with financial issues, the School Board addressing the issue of below average proficiency compared to the state average.
The board stating there will be increased focus on improving literacy among all students in the district. Superintendent Brian Polito tells us, “really the last 8-10 years we’ve been focused on trying to keep our doors open. So now, with this opportunity, with the 14 million, we’ll be able to take a step back and look at what we’re doing; look at what the needs of our students are and develop a plan to really start to improve those test scores.”
Also at the meeting, the board discussed the appointment of an independent financial advisor.
