The Erie SeaWolves announced their identity, including team name and logos for the Minor League Baseball Diversity Initiative, called, ‘Copa de la Diversion’. The SeaWolves will be known as the ‘Erie Pinatas’ for four games this season.
The goal is to embrace Hispanic and Latino cultures at the ballpark. The kids at Joanna Connell Elementary School helped the team introduce the new identity by swinging at a pinata.
The SeaWolves want to instill the belief that baseball is for everyone.
President of the Erie SeaWolves Greg Coleman tells us, “we are excited to be working with the Erie Latino Leadership Association to help make sure we put together an authentic experience.”
The SeaWolves will have their first ‘Pinatas’ game on May 5th.
